Reflection: What Defines A Masterpiece?
The hardest parts about being an artist are figuring out how to begin and when your work is done. In the beginning, you could literally try any direction possible. The endless options are intimidating, and the lack of direction can be overwhelming.
At the end of your masterpiece, when is it ever good enough? There’s always another color to add or part to fix. While it’s not your blank canvas, there’s always that “What else?” question dancing in your head.
But, what defines a masterpiece?
When you start a wellness journey, you’re like an artist with a new brush. You don’t know what to paint or even the right technique. After repeated trials and errors, you finally start to figure out your style. What you respond to. And most importantly, what feels right.
During the process, you focus so hard on getting to your masterpiece that you don’t realize one canvas tends to always lead to the next.
The truth is that our wellness masterpiece will never be done. Every year brings on new surprises, and every accomplishment leads to higher goals.
So, what if we focused on the distance achieved versus the distance we still have to go? While the finish line will change, we can always look back and appreciate where we started from.
